Zuoz

The Zuoz townscape is well known throughout Switzerland and said to be the most beautiful in Engadin. Here visitors encounter local Engadin culture and the narrow streets are lined with historic patrician houses. Zuoz, the window to the Engadin.

Engadin

The Upper Engadin is one of the highest inhabited valleys in Europe. After the last ice age, an 80-kilometre-long valley with fascinating landscape was left behind at an altitude of around 1800 metres. Alpine and at the same time facing the sun of the South, it appears as if it has been modelled at the hands of an artist. The mountains stand far enough apart to indulge the people with air and light. And yet they are a good 4000 metres tall and thus form a truly imposing backdrop.

The connection between man and nature as well as a vibrant culture makes the “Engiadina” a fascinating place. Like a garden and the feet of the Bernina massif, it stretches over larch and Swiss pine forests and is considered Switzerland’s botanical treasure trove.

Mountains,
wide open space,
Light

The play of light of the Engadin climate left Friedrich Nietzsche believing he had found the “birthplace of every hue of silver”. The light has been a source of inspiration for guests and artists for centuries.

The Engadin, it shines from the inside.
